This October 2024, in lieu of World Food Day and International Day of Rural Women, the Netherlands Embassy, AY Foundation, AGREA Foundation, and AGREA System organized the first Women Food Producers Association Summit 2024 by celebrating the nine (9) FORWARD communities that they have been supporting as part of AGREA’s program for women empowerment.

On October 8, ISEA President, Marie Lisa Dacanay was one of the esteemed speakers of the first Women Food Producers Association Summit 2024. Dr. Dacanay shared a 15-minute presentation on Social Entrepreneurship for Development during the face-to-face event held at Yuchengco Museum in Makati City.

The Summit aimed to: (1) institutionalize the Women Food Producers Association (WFPA), and showcase their sustainable livelihood plans to other WFPAs, program partners, and potential partners; (2) gather 66 women from these 9 WFPA areas as the first Senior Leadership Team (SLT) who will re-echo their learnings to their members: Quezon City, Majayjay Laguna, Camalig Albay, Marinduque, Siargao, and Pasig City – who are part of AGREA Foundation’s network of women food producers in the Philippines for a full-day learning, knowledge exchange, and networking activity; (3) to provide a learning event opportunity for women food producers focused on the areas of: food systems and nutrition security, gender and development, financial literacy, and digital inclusion; and, (4) To foster camaraderie and support groups for women food producers across the Philippines.
