Knowledge Creation. Capacity Development. Platform Building.
Last December 2-5, ISEA Supervising Program and Development Cooperation Specialist and concurrent Asia Gender Regional Coordinator for Local Network (LocNet) Initiative, Catherine Tiongson-Intalan joined the 15th AWID International Forum held at the Queen Sirikit National Convention Center (QSNCC), Bangkok, Thailand.
In a Local Access Conversation on Community Centered Connectivity, Cathy shared stories and initiatives from Asia. She highlighted the amazing work of Common Room Foundation and Kasepuhan Ciptagelar and the model building initiatives by Face Bangladesh and the Philippine Rural Reconstruction Movement. While her colleagues from Latin America and Africa also shared stories and initiatives on gender integration in their regions.
This conversation was part of the Feminist Tech Gardens, a special section of the AWID International Forum for feminists across the work to re-discover and re-design their relationship with technology. The Feminist Tech Garden is co- organized by Association for Progressive Communications (APC), and the only Global Majority/Larger World feminist tech funder (that we are proud to have co-founded), Numun Fund!.
The AWID International Forum hosted more than 4000 feminists around the globe. Together, the participants Connect, Heal and Thrive. There were over 200 sessions both in person and virtual, over 200 arts exhibitions, workshops, performances and film screenings, 23 spaces, 35 movement booths and lounges, 28 marketplace stalls, 8 hubs in 7 countries.
