ISEA and WEE Partners organize a WEE Talk Series featuring Vietnam, Indonesia, and Philippines

On the month of July and August, the Institute for Social Entrepreneurship in Asia (ISEA) and its WEE partners organized a WEE Talk Series featuring its implementing partners from three countries: Vietnam, Indonesia, and the Philippines. The series of Learning Exchange on the Benchmarks for Transformational Partnerships and Women’s Economic Empowerment in Agricultural Value Chains (BTP WEE in AVCs or Benchmarks) with Practitioners showcased the experiences and learning of 16 social enterprises, SMEs and corporate agribusinesses using the Benchmarks in improving their policies and practices on women’s economic empowerment and in partnering with their women and men small scale producers. 

Co-organized with the Center for Social Initiatives Promotion (CSIP), the first learning session of the WEE Talk Series happened on July 19, 2023.

The second learning session happened in a hybrid format in Indonesia and via Zoom last July 25, 2023 featuring the following speakers: Dr. Marie Lisa Dacanay (President, ISEA), Ana Budi Rahayu (Executive Director, Bina Swadaya Consultant), Paulus Sigit Hermanto (Toko Trubus), Dessy Sonyaratri (Karya Masyarakat Mandiri), Ratna Puspitaningtyas (Warung Hijau Trukajaya), Dwi Karti Handayani (Wedang Uwuh Den Bagus), Niken Prihartari Tri Sumyarsih (Lembaga Pengembangan Teknologi Pedesaan), Setyari Pamungkas (Gita Pertiwi), Sef Carandang (Gender Specialist, ISEA) and Syamsul Ardiansyah (Senior Officer Strategic Alliance of Dompet Dhuafa).

This session was co-organized with Bina Swadaya Konsultan (Trubus Bina Swadaya) and Yayasan Dompet Dhuafa from Indonesia.

The third learning session of the series happened onAugust 11, 2023 featuring Philippine WEE implementing partners as follows: Marie Lisa Dacanay – President, Institute for Social Entrepreneurship in Asia (ISEA); Mabi David – Advocacy and Partnership Lead, Good Food Community; Maria Pamela Castro – Senior Program Manager for Livelihood, Food Security and Nutrition, Pilipinas Shell Foundation, Inc.(PSFI); and Maria Hidelita Bernal – Chief Operating Officer, Federation of Peoples’ Sustainable Development Cooperative – FPSDC.

This initiative was under the WE LIVE FOOD (Women Empowerment, Livelihood and Food) Platform supported by the ISEA’s Women’s Economic Empowerment Transformational Initiatives in Agricultural Value Chains (WEE TRAIN in AVCs) project, a component of the Gender Transformative and Responsive Business Investment in Southeast Asia (GRAISEA) programme led by Oxfam supported by the Embassy of Sweden in Bangkok.
