Through the mission of the APC-Rhizomatica LocNet project to support community-centered connectivity movement in the global South, we are currently conducting a survey to help us understand how best to support this movement globally, regionally, and nationally.
Community Networks (CN) are technological innovations that seek to address digital divide such as gender, class, and caste, especially in rural areas. By increasing connectivity in digital and social spaces, it hopes to create jobs, entrepreneurship, and economic growth. Community-Centered Connectivity Initiatives are programs or projects that pertain to empowerment through digital transformation, extending last mile connectivity, use of frugal digital technologies, and other internet-related projects.

Beyond helping us to improve the design of activities and strategies to better support your work, the survey results will be presented in events, reports and decision-making processes aiming to foster an enabling environment for community-centred initiatives. We also expect this work to increase the visibility of the community-centred connectivity movement and will build awareness among communities of others doing similar work.
