Oikocredit and ISEA Pilot SE Marketing and Operations Management Course

Oikocredit International and the Institute for Social Entrepreneurship in Asia (ISEA) piloted the Course on Strategic Marketing and Operations Management for Social Enterprises on May 16-20, 2011 at the Fersal Hotel, Malakas St., Diliman, Quezon City, Philippines. Thirty five participants including the top leadership and senior managers from thirteen social enterprise partners of Oikocredit from the Philippines and Cambodia completed the course. The thirteen partners are mainly engaged in agriculture-based initiatives in the two countries. They included Alter Trade Group, the largest fair trade organization in the Philippines and CEDAC, the biggest social enterprise promoting sustainable agriculture in Cambodia.

The course was the second module of the Strategic Management Course for Social Enterprises in Southeast Asia. This 16-day, 3-module program was launched to enhance the capabilities of Oikocredit’s partners in the two countries on the art of managing multiple bottom lines. The expectation is for such to enhance their social impact and organizational sustainability.

The faculty for the 5-day course included Prof. Ronald Chua, Prof. Francisco M. Bernardo III, Dr. Alejandrino Ferreria, Dr. Emmanuel Ridad and ISEA Consultant Rosalinda Roy. ISEA President Marie Lisa Dacanay served as Course Director and Lead Faculty.

The first module on Strategy Formation in Social Enterprises.was held on November 8-12, 2010. The third module on Strategic Human Resource/Organizational Development and Financial Management, including integrative sessions is scheduled on August 29-September 3, 2011.
