UP Alumni Freedom Project’s Webinar features SE icons

The webinar series led by the UP Alumni Freedom Project called “USAPANG KP” held last March 11 was dubbed as “Social Entrepreneurs: Kabuhayan para sa Bayan, Naks!” The panelists and reactors featured in the webinar were SE icons who shared how academic freedom helped shape their choice of profession and how their social enterprise models contribute to nation building.

The panelists were: Dr. Jaime Aristotle B. Alip, Founder and Chairman Emeritus of Center for Agriculture and Rural Development Mutually Reinforcing Institutions (CARD NGO); Ms. Alvira “Vie” Reyes, Founder and CEO of Bote Central and Acting President of Philippine Coffee Alliance; and Ms. Reese Fernandez-Ruiz, President and Founding Partner of Rags2Riches. On the other hand, the reactors were: Mr. Earl Parreño, Chairperson of Alter Trade Foundation, Inc.; Ms. Estrella “Mai” Dizon-Anonuevo, Chairperson of Atikha Overseas Workers and Communities Initiative, Inc. and Executive Director of Global Academy on Migration and Development; and Mr. Norby Salonga, Program Director of Lasallian Social Enterprise for Economic Development (LSEED) Center.

The webinar was moderated by Dr. Grace Gorospe Jamon, Professor of Political Science  and Former Director, UP Diliman Extension Program in Pampanga and co-moderated by ISEA President, Dr. Marie Lisa M. Dacanay. The webinar ended with Closing Remarks from Dr. Elena E. Pernia, Vice President for Public Affairs of the University of the Philippines.
