ISEA holds Orientation and WEE Planning Seminar Workshop in Jakarta

ISEA organized an Orientation and WEE Planning Seminar Workshop for 3 small and medium enterprises (SMEs) in Indonesia last November 14 to 15, 2019 at All Seasons Hotel Jakarta Thamrin, Indonesia.

This was participated by managers and owners of CITATITA Foods (processing food products from catfish), IWA-QU (processing of fish), and UKM Azizah (processing of shrimp products) in Jambi Province, Indonesia. These SMEs were interested to strengthen their policies and practices on smallholder inclusion and women’s economic empowerment (WEE) in their respective agricultural value chains.

The 3 SMEs were aided to use the Benchmarks for Transformational Partnerships and Women’s Economic Empowerment Scorecard for SMEs in evaluating their policy and practice on how they engage small producers and women in their respective supply chains. By the end of the activity, the 3 SMEs have developed an initial plan to enhance their policy and practice of engaging small producers, particularly women small producers, their respective enterprises and supply chains.

WEE TRAIN in AVCs, ISEA’s component in GRAISEA aims to engage and support GRAISEA regional partners and other key actors in strengthening the pursuit of a transformational WEE agenda among private sector players and governments in ASEAN and beyond.

Using the Benchmarks for Transformational Partnership and Women’s Economic Empowerment in Agricultural Value Chains (BTP WEE in AVCs) resulting from GRAISEA1 as starting framework, ISEA hopes to pilot and replicate SME and corporate initiatives that pursue WEE. The strategic intention is to develop SME and corporate models demonstrating WEE.
