Encouraging youth to social entrepreneurship: ISEA president talks in a youth forum in China

ISEA President, Dr. Marie Lisa Dacanay was invited to talk in the first-ever Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) Innovation and International Youth Philanthropy Entrepreneurship Forum in Nanjing, China last October 24 to 25, 2015.

Dr. Dacanay particularly covered the topic “CSR and Social Entrepreneurship in a Changing Era,” where she noted that the phenomenal growth in Asia’s economies has two faces: one, that is happy with economic growth producing an increasing number of billionaires; and two, that is sad, with the benefits of such economic growth excluding the poor and having a toll on the environment.

In the end, Dr. Dacanay encouraged the students to take on the challenge of going beyond the usual traditions of CSR and evolve models of social entrepreneurship that are most relevant to transforming the lives of the poor and marginalized in their communities.

The forum, organized by NJYW, C-Foundation, and the Amity Foundation, aims to further stimulate the enthusiasm of young adults to participate in philanthropy, push for the innovation of CSR, and help provide public communication platform on philanthropy and CSR.
