ISEA joins the International Seminar organized by Forum Zakat Indonesia

Forum Zakat Indonesia organized an International Seminar on “Strengthening The Role of Islamic Philanthropy for The Implementation of Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)” last June 3, 2021 via Zoom.

With over 120 participants in the virtual event, the seminar brought together international experts to discuss challenges faced by Islamic Philanthropists to collaborate and enlarge the impact of Islamic philanthropy funds in the context of implementing the SDGs and ensure that nothing is left behind. The main topics of the seminar included lesson learned about the use of Islamic philanthropic funds in the implementation of SDGs in Indonesia and the world, opportunities and challenges to implement the SDGs, and how strategically we collaborate in facing the opportunities and challenges of implementing SDGs in the future.

The event’s speakers were: Mr. Muhammad Didi Hardiana (Head of Innovative Financing Lab UNDP Indonesia), Dr. Zainul Bahar Noor, S.E, M.Ec (General Secretary of World Zakat Forum), Dr. Marie Lisa Dacanay (President of ISEA), Prof. Hilman Latief, M.A, P.hD (Chairman of LAZIS Muhammadiyah) and Prof. Amelia Fauziah, Ph.D (Director of Social Trust Fund UIN Syarif Hidayatullah). Dr. Tika Widiastuti, M.Si (Head of PUSPAS UNAIR) served as the Moderator of the seminar.

ISEA President, Dr Dacanay presented “Social Entrepreneurship as Strategy for Building Back Better and Accelerating the SDGs” which included the ASEAN Guidelines on Transformational Partnerships and Women’s Economic Empowerment in Agricultural Value Chains (ASEAN GTP WEE in AVCs), the Benchmarks, and the SE Multistakeholder platforms for inclusive recovery and building back fairer towards accelerating the SDGs.
