ISEA holds a national forum on Inclusive and Innovative Pathways to COVID-19 Recovery to harness SE and cross-sectoral collaboration

On March 29, the Institute for Social Entrepreneurship in Asia (ISEA) organized an online forum dubbed as “National Forum on Inclusive and Innovative Pathways to COVID-19 Recovery: Harnessing Social Entrepreneurship and Cross-Sectoral Collaboration”. This event was supported by the Poverty Reduction Through Social Entrepreneurship Coalition and Oxfam Pilipinas.

Dr Marie Lisa Dacanay presented the findings and recommendations of the SEAR Report

The forum presented the findings and recommendations from the Social Enterprise Action Research (SEAR) report on the impact of COVID-19 on social enterprises led by ISEA President, Dr Marie Lisa Dacanay, the Research Team Leader. 

In the spirit of inclusive recovery and building back fairer focusing on sustainable livelihoods and decent work, the forum also aimed to support cooperation and synergy efforts to set up a Social Enterprise Recovery Initiative (SERI) with the government, the business sector and the civil society.

During the interactive session, the panelists provided their perspective on SERI. The panelists were: Charlene Tan, Founder and CEO of Good Food Community; Ms Estrella Mai Dizon-Anonuevo, Executive Director of Global Academy on Migration and Development and Chairperson of Atikha Overseas Workers and Communities Initiative, Inc.; Ms Anna Meloto-Wilk, Co-Founder and President of Gandang Kalikasan, Inc.; Ms Leah Payud, Resilience Portfolio Manager of Oxfam Pilipinas; Mr Elvin Uy, Executive Director of Philippine Business for Social Progress (PBSP); and Mr Angelito Acupan, Vice President of Small Business Corporation.

The event was moderated by Mr Norby Salonga, Program Director of Lasallian Social Enterprise for Economic Development (LSEED), while the interactive session was facilitated by Prof Ronald Chua of ISEA.
